As an animal advocate, I receive a lot of e-mail and literature relative to anti-cruelty.

Today, I want to share this quote from the Puppies Aren’t Products program… “Puppies shouldn't be mass-produced into a world that can't provide homes for them all.” At the 4 Paws Society, we constantly encourage people to “Adopt, don’t Shop” for just this reason.

We are so engrossed in rescuing and finding homes for Lake Charles area dogs that we don’t always have time to discuss the root cause of the problem that keeps us so busy. With this in mind, we will soon be adding more links and information about the importance of avoiding puppy mills. In the meantime, visit BestFriends.org for more information.

Please encourage those contemplating the purchase of a dog or puppy to "adopt, don't shop."  This is a national problem and I’m referring you to a national site, but Calcasieu Parish shares in the problem and you can help locally.
